Climate Innovation Indexes

Climate change is one of the key business and economic issues of our time. Companies that successfully innovate and manage climate-related opportunities and risks are better equipped to operate in changing policy environments; to deal with increased investor scrutiny regarding future growth environments; and, adapt to the physical impacts of climate change on their operations and markets.

The Maplecroft Climate Innovation Indexes (CIIs) provide investors and stakeholders with insight into the activities of leading US companies and address the compelling case for climate-related innovation and carbon management as leading indicators of future financial performance. They are closely aligned with the SEC guidance issued in January 2010 requiring listed US companies to disclose climate change risks and opportunities associated with regulatory changes, market exposures and physical impacts of climate change. The CIIs also provide asset managers with reliable and objective benchmarks to manage sustainability portfolios.

The Maplecroft CIIs help investors and interested parties identify companies that are leaders in areas of climate-related innovation and carbon management. The CIIs are attractive to investors because they:
